Who are these that fly like a cloud,
and like doves to their windows?                       Isaiah 60:8

In the Scriptures the dove has become both a symbol of peace and the embodiment of the Holy Spirit.  From the story of Noah, we see the dove bearing an olive branch in its beak as a sign that the land was drying and life returning to the earth.  The association of the dove with the Holy Spirit comes from the baptism of Jesus, in which we are told the heavens opened and the Spirit descended on Jesus in the form of a dove.  However, the Spirit is also associated with breath, and with wind; the breath that God breathed into the dust creature he formed in the creation stories, and the wind that moved over the face of the waters at the beginning of creation.  Jenny (pictured) speaks of the freeing nature of her costume which recalls the ideas associated with the Spirit, the breath and wind of God that blows where it wills, subversive, playful, joyous, transformative.  With the old ways of doing politics and commerce failing us, we need new subversive, joyous and creative ways of transforming our lives and the life of the world.
