Touch - Pastoral Care Coordinator

The Lent course reflection for Mothering Sunday made me think about touch and how we 'touch' people. The outward physical gesture is an expression of what is going on in our hearts - we are 'touched' by others' suffering and so we reach out to them. Today, as we are unable to physically express our empathy, I believe we can and do still touch people. We can communicate our empathy every time we phone and attentively listen to them, when we write a letter or email which shows we care, when we let them know we are thinking and praying for them. 'Touch' is a communication of our heartfelt concern for them. I believe we will always find ways to touch people.
